ten charlton |

I purchased ten charlton towards the end of 2oo4. At the time of purchase it was in a pretty run down state. There were pads of concrete everywhere in the back yard, very few plants, plenty of weeds, hard compacted clay soil beneath the thin lawn and generally little sign of life. The house itself was uninspiring and featured ugly 60's wall papers, paint colours that clashed and a mix of various tiles, lino, carpet off cuts and bare concrete.
In the past eight years well over 5o cubic metres of mulch has been spread on the gardens, loads of cow and chicken manure and basalt crusher dust dug in, soil for the veggie garden plots and some 22 holes dug in the heavy pug for posts and privacy trellises. To this, hundreds of plants have been struck or brought in.
The house has been rendered, painted inside and out, walls knocked out, the poky kitchen replaced with a large modern one, new cook top and oven installed, furniture purchased, the garage converted into a HUGE studio room, concrete floors ground back inpreparation for many metres of tiling, glass sliding doors have replaced roller doors to open up spaces, new curtains and blinds fitted, a new roof and whirly gigs fitted and a new timber front deck with breakfast bar added.
Ten charlton has become a little tropical oasis of food production and privacy just over a km away from the heart of Lismore.
It is my desire to convert current systems to solar and purchase rain water tanks in the near future.
